possible that the sniper or snipers are firing from inside the windowless cargo areas, and not the passenger windows, of the vehicles.

How do you fire out of the windowless part of a van?

Another thing to remember. 9/11 was something that was so obvious we were oblivious to it. It was only the morals of a civil society that stopped us from believing it could happen. Sure we all see it now, some of us even saw it before 9/11 but as a people we thought a hijacking had a specific MO.

Now with this thing, its the same senario. The media and the intellectuals are all going on past experiances. We are thinking in terms of how terrorists are supposed to act. No one to this day has publically claimed responsibility for 9/11. The point of this operation and 9/11 was killing people. By achieving these goals, they eventually me the broader goal.

We have always thought we were safe here at home, they are trying to point out that we are something less than that.

As for the card? I think they're having fun if even they left it.

If there's a side door, you crack the door open to fit the barrel of the rifle through it. Then the guy doesn't have to drive and shoot. It's got to be a team.

Well, maybe the solution is... he isn't inside, and that's why they are so certain they won't be caught.

I say "they", because the team would require a driver and possibly lookout/spotter with communication. With a bit of sheetmetal work and some paint, I'd bet one could make a prone sniper's nest under the floor and out of sight in a van or small truck. Perhaps the guy is shooting from where the tailpipe hole is located? He would be completely hidden and enclosed as he peers out his hole at practically street level. He couldn't take really close shots, but where the parallax angle is better, say over 300 feet, he could easily have enough angle to hit a standing person at street level if his vehicle was not moving.

If that's the case, even somebody immediately stopping the van would find a couple of unarmed guys in a completely "empty" van. The shooter would be below the floorboards under a false fairing of some sort. It would be an almost invisible hide, and unlikely to be uncovered in all but the most invasive search. Even stopping the vehicle on I-95 (or any road) and looking inside wouldn't do any good. Neither would looking at the undercarriage. The shooter could be sandwiched between.

Who knows?

But one thing is for sure,... the shooter is hiding in plain sight, is in no hurry for a getaway to hide either the shooter or weapon, makes 'invisible' shots and is never seen (even with a state trooper 50 yards away), there is no sign of a weapon or suspect, and he shoots at leisure.

The exception is the school, but that seemed pretty isolated in location and perhaps was done to plant a false evidence trail and MO to dilute the investigation to nutballs as well as AQs?

Gas stations, parking lots and street corners are easy targets. They are right near where there are lots of vehicles moving and stopping, including his.
