That shooter at least had the courage to take on armed military targets; the one in D.C. feels safer shooting unarmed civilians, women and kids. Just another terrorist.

Perhaps he is just carrying out stage one Perhaps he a very skilled sniper who is supposed to shoot people in order for stage two to be carried out by many other terrorists.

I think his goal is to keep people away from gas stations so a bunch of stations can be blown up by accomplices.

Maybe they are trying to make it look random (shooting women who are shopping, men who are mowing, children who are going to school) in order to disguise their goal.

After the poor woman in Georgia got raked over the coals, people will be hesitant to report any suspicious activities by men at gas stations along highways.

My guess is that the person DID play some of those computer games, although they're so common it doesn't mean much. What I found amusing about Thompson's speculation is that he felt the games were sufficient to turn someone into a skilled marksman. That's ridiculous. It turns you into someone who is good at clicking the left mouse button at the right moment.

I don't think our killer is an Islamic terrorist. I think he's someone, probably a white male, who blames the world for his own problems and is lashing out. He's deeply psychotic, lives alone, and is immensely enjoying the new sense of power that he has.

For once, he's important, and he's getting off on it. The choice of victims is not important. Today's victim was a black man. Tomorrow's may be a little girl, not because he's looking for a girl, but because he's waiting for the precise moment to shoot, and the target is whoever comes into his sights at the time.

I think the speculation that he waited for a white van to be passing by at the time is almost certainly true. He IS smarter than most cops.

The only thing I don't understand is why he's foolish enough to leave handwritten notes for the police. His arrogance is going to get him caught, fortunately.

Right. The most influence the games might have is desensitizing someone to taking a life, ala the Columbine shooters. They seemed delighted by the spattering they were creating, as if it were some cool special effect. So, where WOULD a person develop sharpshooting skill? The military? Paramilitary? A hunter? Or is it fairly easy to hit your target using a scope? Some video games do have a gun you aim with. This is probably the type of game Thompson referred to, not a PC game.

2 people in the van = mooselimb terror attacks, yet again.

The *moron* cops are looking at all the wrong leads.. Start by yanking every arab/mooselimb in the USA and kick them out or SOMETHING

Muslim terrorists we've seen thus far relied heavily on the gaping security holes in our immigration, drivers license and airport security, and were in general (but not always) skilled at keeping a low profile. They did, however, broadcast their intentions both before and after the fact, as witnessed by Atta's attempts to get a loan to buy a cropduster; Moussoui's bluntness about not wanting to learn to take off or land a plane, the notes/prayers left behind, and the frequent foreign trips taken by Atta. In many respects, they were blatantly flaunting the system.

OTOH, this shooter(s) displays a high degree of organization and self-discipline: never taking a second shot, evidently scouting locations ahead of time, and not broadcasting his/her next move to any degree. Even the timing of the shootings (a weekend off; a day off, then killing two days in a row, etc.) doesn't follow a pattern, which in itself is probably designed to keep LE off guard.

This type of terrorism would certainly be an Islamist's dream, but unless they've enlisted someone who displays a discipline they don't seem to possess, I doubt that the perp is an Islamic terrorist.

He was definitely referring to the PC games. They even showed a clip from Counter-Strike. It's not an arcade game.

But, it's quite easy to hit a target from 200 yards or less with a scope, assuming the scope is adjusted properly. It is more difficult to do from a standing position, simply because it's difficult to prevent muscle tremor from swaying the gun.

But a novice, who uses the ground or some sort of gun rest, can hit a human at that distance if the scope is adjusted correctly.

If the sniper is using a scope, it's definitely been sighted correctly, which probably means that he's been at a gun range in the past few months. I'm sure the authorities are checking those leads.

Nah, you're thinking like a rational, sane person. Terrorists would WANT incinerated bystanders.

Think more along the lines of having Americans focus their attention on the D.C. area, while a serious mass attack comes elsewhere, perhaps during the holiday season. Christmas, perhaps? What better time for Moslem butchers to strike in the name of their pig-god.

Once they said two people have been seen by multiple witnesses, I say it's islamic.

There's almost no way it's a pair of white guys on a spree.. If it is, that's really pathetic.

I found it strange that the tape released supposedely to be OSAMA bin Laden, "warning that more attacks were being planned by the “youths of God” against the United States, yesterday demanded that Washington stop its “aggression” against Muslims.

“By God, the youths of God are preparing for you things that would fill your hearts with terror and target your economic lifeline until you stop your oppression and aggression, or until one of us dies and God give us strength,” the leader of al-Qaeda said in an audio tape broadcast by the Qatar-based al-Jazeera network."
Now the person left a note claiming "I am God".Maybe this person is the leader of a sleeper cell.

Just more thoughts...one of the suspects has the last name Williams but now is going by Mohammed. To me that means he has converted to Islam. That would explain the message with "youth of God".Lately I have found alot of references from supposedly al-queda,radical islamics,or whatever; calling for people to convert and except allah.Maybe these are lone nuts.Don't forget that there are people who want to damage and take over our country though.Maybe this is just a small part of that big bomb.I'm thinking someone is sitting back, just waiting to say "look how they jumped to conclusions',it was one of their own.I'm not sure where I'm going with this so I will leave it as that.
