When I was a kid, all our field trips were to DC (Smithsonian, etc.). It was a rich experience for a kid. But if I still lived there I would have a very hard time letting my kids go on field trips to DC without worrying..alot.

Isn't that awful to have to worry so much about that! Worrying about the adminstrators lack of control and enforcement of discipline is bad enough!

on a side note:
We went to the smithsonian exhibit when it came to kansas city missouri. It was a great learning experience for the kids.

The closest these shootings have gotten to downtown D.C. is the shooting on Georgia Ave. just off the MD border, miles away. I have a feeling these guys regard downtown D.C. as an unhealthy spot to extend their shooting to.
