It has been a number of years now, but when I used to knock around that area, I used RT. 1 more than I95. Usually free flowing and not likely to stop like I95.

Are the LEO's blocking Rt.1 also?

There are two "traffic lights from hell" on Route 1. One is at Route 1 and 17 in Falmouth, the other is at Courthouse Road and Route 1 in Stafford (there are two Courthouse Roads that intersect Route 1, one is in Stafford and one in Spotsylvania).

When I say traffic light from hell, I'm talking about the kind that give a green light to only one of the 4 directions at a time, mainly because they were too cheap to put a left turn lane in or didn't have room for one. You can sometimes sit for several cycles of the light before you finally get through.
