I was thinking the exact same thing. Many service companies have a fleet of vans, they don't look suspicious because everyone is used to seeing them...perfect decoy.

My guess (and I know everyone is waiting for it too) is that it's someone who works 3rd shift, probably employed at a gas station. The perp could stop off on the way home from work and off someone, and spend the night hearing customers fret about it. Just my tinfoil opinion.
