If memory serves me correctly (I couldn't find it in any of the stories) they were arrested shortly after the final murders. But these guys had been at this sort of activity for a week before these poor folks got killed.
For me it just re-emphasizes the sad fact that no you cannot treat an armed robber as if he's only after the money. The fact that he's armed is at least an implicit threat on your life, and going along under the hope that "money isn't worth killing somebody over" will get you killed in the likely case that the robber doesn't agree.

In the text on another thread:
Prosecutor Foulston says the Carr brothers chose their victims at random, not because they were white, and that the motive was robbery. How in the world can they come to this conclusion? I'm able to read about stories of robbery. I cannot even make it through this story. This is a story of brutality if I've ever heard one.

"I've got a job to do and I'm going to do it. If anyone
tries anything to stop me, they are stupid and have
committed suicide. I cannot afford to hesitate. I
have to kill them, or they will kill me."
