Agreed.
This guy,to me,is working like a roadhunter that doesn't want to be caught and he needn't worry about returning to collect his "game".
His shooting location and escape route are his main concern because "targets" will be available nearly anywhere he finds suitable for his own safe escape.

You know, if the mini-van they are seeking is in fact related to the shooting then you have more than one individual (as per the report) and that would seem to suggest NOT simply a wacko. IMO

Putting armed guards on the schoolyards and gas stations is a total waste of time.
They need to be 200-400 yards from the likely targets surveilling routes in and out of potential shoot sites.

you got it.

"how about using snipers to catch a sniper?"I wonder why explosive-sniffing dogs couldn't pick that vehicle out of traffic? There must be some strong nitrate residue inside the van.
Seems like a good hound could pick up a hot scent out in traffic, through an open window.
Sort of like a bear hunter's 'strike dog' -- Picking up a 'hot' trail from the back of the truck as they drive 'thru the woods . . .

Well, if sniper guy is a wacko, he is a very cunning wacko, one that watches lots of TV.
I still have no opinion as to weather this is a garden varity nut case, or a terrorist...Hard to say at this point......Without being involved in the direct investigation....

Yes, but my point was that NO family of the victims of the shootings are in the tube? Why not? We know that in all other cases, the families are feature items on the networks. Who shut down the news and appearances and why?
To: Travis McGee
Pretty soon the people will demand protection. They (and I) will feel better when I see lots of cops. Everywhere! (until they catch this guy)

If he's shooting from the vehicle......
To: Travis McGee
Or you could put one of these on every rooftop.

Yes, but my point was that NO family of the victims of the shootings are in the tube. I saw them on local DC TV. Lots of relatives of the taxi driver.

I can't imagine what these communities must be going through. Just sickening.. and certainly brings home what the Israeli's are enduring daily!! For years to boot!!

If it's a nutcase, then it's certainly not of the garden variety...

Or along every major thoroughfare.

I think all the speculation and theories tossed around FR over the last few days are absolutely fascinating and many of them are very good. I just have a feeling that this guy or guys are simply not that 'deep'.
I don't think they are planning killings on hidden symbolism or place names. I think they are killing on a formula... A formula that enables the shooter to have the right access to a victim - any victim - and the ability to make an escape. He may have worked long and hard on that formula, but on nothing else. That is the secret to his success.

It will be a citizen, not a cop or fed that outs and/or kills this terrorist.
To: relee
Cops apprehend criminals after the fact, and they have no responsibility to protect you. You must protect yourself.
To: Fraulein
If it's a nutcase, then it's certainly not of the garden variety... Sure it could be. The road of history is lined with very cunning wackos that murdered lots and lots of people.....
To: DC native
That is so depressing. When I was growing up there were none, except for those at Embassies.

God forbid the Crayola chart actually be used during a terrorist style incident! That thing is worthless and useless. Sniper hits again...and the Feds are talking colors. Your tax dollars at work. Get someone in charge over there please!?!? Paging Rudy G.!
