To not vote for the republican on ideological grounds is to elect or make it more likely that the socialist will be elected. Even if the democrat pretends to be conservative they will vote the party line on most issues.

Interesting that you can make a judgement call like that. Glad you have a lot of experience with local NC politicians seeing as you live in Arkansas. You already know they're liberal just by their party affiliation and you're over a 1000 miles away. What kind of crystal ball do you have to see this? Do they sell them in stores?

As I noted on the national level I DO vote for the Republican in most cases. If I don't, I will not vote for the Democrat, I just abstain. But of course I'm of the belief of overturning the 17th Amendment and returning the power to the state legislatures as established by the Founders (darn it, that must be liberal too)

But on the local level, I have voted for Democrats because in many parts of this state they're more conservative than the Republican candidate

The crystal ball is C-span 1&2 and the congressional websites. On C-span you see the floor speakers say what they believe in and the web sites show how they voted. Ya need to look and see for yourself that on the major issues, most dems hang together like a bunch of grapes. Regardless of the consequences of the faulty legislation or the good legislation whos only fault is that it was initiated by a republican.

Go see for yourself.
