You write a long screed again with a lot of what if's, wouldyas, willyas, if'nonlies, so why don't you take the time to display a list of those candidates that you are so positive will save us from this malady you see. Don't go half way, go the entire mile and finish what you started or else people will have to guess which is the candidate that will lead.
If I could, I would hand you a copy of The Little Engine that Could. The attribute that I like about children's books is that they often illustrate values that adults frequently forget exist.
Other than that, I hope that everything is going well for you ; )
Needing votes to govern is a double-edged sword. I want Republicans to have my vote and all of the other conservative votes in America. But, if and only if, they will subscribe to and support the Contract with Congress. Are you afraid to ask your Republican candidates to support the Contract with Congress? Are you afraid that the candidate might refuse? If you understand and value the Constitution, if you have any appreciation at all for the freedom we once enjoyed but have now lost, if you know or understand what Democrats have done in destroying private property rights, if you know or appreciate how much wealth politicians including most elected Republicans today are stripping from your family and giving away to other voters only for the purpose of ensuring their own re-election, how can you with a clear conscience support the election of such a candidate.
America can change; but it will not if we do not demand it from Republican Candidates now and in every subsequent election. There are only going to be seven more elections held in the United States. The fourth election will be in 2008. After that it will not matter who wins or by how much, it will be too late to put our financial house in order. Every democracy in history has ended in bankruptcy. When the people learn they can raid the treasury and vote themselves benefits, bankruptcy is inevitable. It is happening here and now in the United States. Our clock will run out sometime between 2012 and 2016, unless we demand that all Republicans that want to win cater to the conservative wing of the Republican Party.
The only elections that Republicans have won and that mattered in the over all scope of preserving freedom were the elections where Republicans catered to the conservative wing. Maybe that would not be a bad thing now or in every other future election. The Republican won/loss record is not very good when they try to compete for liberal or "moderate" votes. I have been an active participant in every election since 1960 and Republican almost always lose when they ignore conservatives.
The old rules of etiquette are that you dance with the date that brung you, or you may not dance at all and your dating days could be over.
you're mistaken deport. as ba conservative made clear in his editorial the conservative side doesn't lack votes it lacks leaders. The actual history is that when the republicans have conservative leadership they win in a landslide. In 1980 & 1984 we had a real conservative leader and we won by very wide margins. In 1994 the republicans campaigned on a strong right-ward bent with contract with america and made very strong gains in congress. Bush 1 of course won easily in 1988 when people assumed he would at least try to be loyal to the ideas he was campaigning on. Then when they saw he was a big government, bash the private secotr monster just like the democrats they elected clinton in 1992. Even in the face of the very terrible, corrupt and criminal democrat party leadership these liberal republicans that the bush' represent can barely win. Very much unlike when the republicans have conservative leadership as has been demonstrated. So, it's not a lack of votes. The american people do support real conservatism. It is a lack of leaders inside the republican party that is the problem.
