Last night I posted my theory about the current Sony playstation interactive game with the SNIPER theme being related in this case..I'm told this is a VERY intense and addicive game..Pete then commented that apparently in the movie "Navy Seals", the nickname of the sniper was GOD...

A look needs to be taken at the seals link...

Not just the SEALs- we called our battalion sniper "God" as well. I remember one training scenario we did where we were training up for Bosnia. It was an Air Assault mission against an illegal checkpoint, which was pretty fun for us guys who had been mechanized our whole careers. We used two rifle platoons as attack force, the mortar platoon (my platoon) as indirect fire support and were augmented by the battalion sniper. In the end, both rifle platoons were killed off and it was a few members of the mortar platoon and this sniper who moved in to clear the objective.

I remember the gushing enthusiasm some of the guys had for the sniper and the way they really seemed to enjoy calling him "God"- kind of like a throw back to that Navy SEALs movie. I guess kind of like "we're just like them". Which was BS of course, two platoons of 11Ms lay "dead" behind us, killed by a handful of Scouts...

That playstation (or whatever) game angle sounds intriguing.
