This past weekend, a News Bulletin circulated by email told Sierra Times readers and others that the ordered raid by U.S. Marshals is expected before January 20th, the day President-elect George W. Bush is to be sworn into office. In a meeting between Pastor and Doctor Dixon, the Leading Marshal and their respective attorneys, the Marshal is said to have reiterated his commitment to “doing his job” with more force than he has previously exhibited. “He made it plain that he considers his oath to defend the court as a duty,” said Pastor Vaughan, “and we simply believe that his oath to uphold and defend the Constitution should take precedence over that.” No threats were issued during the meeting, nor was any specific date set for the raid, but the Dixons left with a strong feeling that this would be the last meeting of its kind.
