WTOP radio also reports there is an armed team (swat?) of police searching the woods. WTOP said the woods are near the high school where the man carrying a long black bag was reported to be this morning.

Does anyone know which high school that was?

Where the heck did these police chiefs (DC and Maryl) go to school Jesse Jackson Ebonics High "We be feeling for dem victems"

Isn't it the truth!!

We were listening to Moose earlier today and it was soooo painful with the dems and disses and dats that I had to turn him off.

I hope he's a lot smarter than he seems....a LOT smarter.

Thanks for posting that aerial photo. In an earlier thread I had made a comment, based on my not reading thoroughly added to my faulty memory, that I think began a misunderstanding as regards the Gate of Heaven cemetary. I have a couple things to add/clarify regarding your comments.

The cabbie was at a Mobil gas station, which is located as you noted, in the lower left of the aerial photo (Aspen Hill Rd. and Connecticut Ave.) There is an Amoco gas station, but it is located at Aspen Hill Rd. and Georgia Ave. - which is in sight of GOH cemetary. There is also another gas station (Chevron, I think) at Connecticut Ave and Georgia Ave. - and that is the station I mistook as being the scene of the cabbie's murder - which is also in sight of GOH.

I can't think of any "cover" area in line with the Mobil station where the shooter could have laid in wait for his victim, other than a church lot and pet cemetary on Aspen Hill Rd., almost across from the Michaels store (center bottom and rt of center bottom of your aerial photo); and that line is broken, or almost so, by the Giant food store (large gray roof at bottom left of center in photo). I am not teribly familiar with southern Connecticut Ave (out of photo view at bottom left), but I seem to recall a fair amount of tree cover at both sides of road; not sure if parkland or not.

Now, why cops may have checked roof of Giant makes some sense... Mobil station is much lower elevation than ground where Giant is, and church property directly abutting rear of Giant is even higher elevation than Giant itself. IIRC, church property edge is steep hill from edge of Giant rear, church grounds almost level with roofline of Giant.

Last thing, then I have to get working on signs for Clinton FReep... you are correct that Michaels store is not in shooting line from GOH cemetary, but it is in line with pet cemetary and church grounds (bottom rt and center rt. of aerial photo).

I apologize for giving incorrect information in earlier threads, and made corrective notes on those threads as soon as I caught my error a couple of days ago.

Doesn't really fit the profile unless she's driving a white box truck, but then again, there's no saying the sniper has to follow the same pattern everytime and the police need to follow every lead.

LOL. Naw, FReepers are too busy FReeping, no time to run around town shooting at people. :)Besides, from what I've read on here, from time to time, the targets would be select, not random. :)ROFL.

After the tarot card, I dismissed the mideast terroist idea. Unfortunately, I think he is a homegrown nut job.

I wonder if he is following the outline in the book..."Police Chiefing for Dummies"???

I would suggest that Chief Moose purchases the book, "What to do with all your free time when you're an unemployed police chief".

Maybe you meant to write to someone else? I said just what you have said - Michael wasn't a suspect until Mark Furman wrote his book and that Furman is credited with solving the case and getting Skakel convicted. It was a great book and good for Furman.

The Fredericksburg shooting on Friday had reports of a dark mid-size sedan fleeing the scene.

They are doing a background on Moose and reporting that he made racial slurs agains white offices on the Portland police dept and then had video tape of Moose apologizing......

Interesting.......

Went back and re-read my post #438. You may have thought I was the person saying that Furman always says stuff after the fact, but I was responding to another Freeper who said that. Furhman is very good at what he does and got Skakel convicted. Good for him - he got a raw deal and I'm glad he's been able to make a new life for himself.

I'm not saying Moose is a bad person either. Maybe he'd be a great guy to have over for dinner. I wouldn't know. But I lived through his tenure as chief in Portland, and I've said before I do not believe he is a good chief.

I'm a little concerned that this talk of internal police matters in the middle of a man hunt was not very helpful or professional.

Nevertheless, I don't want to try to convince anyone here who thinks otherwise.

Awww, leave the poor guy alone, people. What would be the possible benefit of searching Chief Moose's background? Is up for elecion, or promotion?

If the sniper is shooting from church grounds and ran into the church...could the cops go in and get him/her? Does that still work that way?

Good afternoon, Kim. I'll go on a ping list for this subject. How does one ping, anyway? I'm ping deficient as well as HTML deficient. Not trying to be lazy - just don't get how to ping. Thank you for all your work on this - I appreciate it!

I think he is in panic mode...he knows the sniper will hit again...and he feels helpless in protecting the people...I would hate to be in his shoes...

The police need a professional spokesperson tho...

The sniper has covered his tracks too well and shown too much discipline (one shot/victim) to be in the the 17-25 age group.

You really underestimate what kids are capable of nowadays. They have access to all kind of info and "special trainings" through all the books, movies and video games out there. Hollyweird is a very "informative" source for kids.

I continue to believe as I posted since early yesterday morning that the perps are 2 older teens or very young adults bored with violent video games, narcissistic and quite smart. Probably challenging themselves to commit the "perfect crime" just for the thrill of it and to be able to convince themselves how superior they are.

They drive a van and alternate between being the shooter and the driver. The latest driver doesn't shoot from the van but prefers to shoot from outside the van. He is also not as skilled as the first shooter (who is now driving) and his victims have survived.

Remember the movie "The Rope" with James Stewart? Well, it would be a variation on the theme: instead of a perfect murder, they upgrade to perfect murders. Remember the kid's shooting: it would make more sense if they are very young: the kid wouldn't be a kid to them but simply a peer...

Note to the speculation police: All this is of course pure speculation, just like everybody else on these threads. If you don't want to be bothered with all the crazy unfounded theories we are toying with, don't read... :o)
