Not 340 yards. Washington Post story today:

An investigator said police found a spent shell casing in woods about 140 yards from the school, in a spot with a clear sightline to where the boy crumpled to the ground, bleeding.

Story also said that the shooting in DC itself may have been from only 80 yards. That's what the dog "said" anyway. You still have to wonder about that shell casing, when none was found at any of the other sites. Either he's getting sloppy, or it's a red herring.
