The killer or killers is not I repeat not a sniper A sniper is a valuable assest to the military...he is the elite of the elite He saves lives at great risk to his own...many of Americas greates heros were and are still snipers.. To call this murderer (s) a sniper is to denegrate all that is best in our best soldiers and marines This murderer or muderers is best described as an asassin Asassin from the Arabic...Hashshasin...a secret order of Moslems who under the influence of hashish are sent out to murder innocents and political rivals of their hashamite king.... Asassin

Great point. Let's save the term sniper for the military sense. This guy's a killer with a scoped rifle. The movie of the same name was excellent.

Well put, interesting cultural history. Too bad the main news media is too irresponsible to provide this point of view. They are probably afraid it would help Pres. Bush. Then again, to the democrats a little blood of inocents in the pursuit of personal power is no crime.

Couldn't agree more. I posted yesterday that these guys are well paid (from Arab oil or Afghanistan\Albanian opium money) assassins. I don't think they are Muslim. Muslims have a tendency to either martyr themselves, screw things up, or claim credit. This guy is ex-military (spetsnaz?) as evidenced by the marksmanship, the use of only one shot, the well thought out get away, etc....He's definitely seen a lot of action as he has no qualms of shooting children. I would guess Russian. They will kill someone for $ 100.00 in Brooklyn. It might even be someone from the Yugoslavian civil wars where they used to take out civilians all the time. Just my hunch.

If it was me I would start asking firms that specialize in protecting overseas executives who the top assassins are. There has to be only a handful of teams like this in the world that would be willing to accept money for killing women and children, have the skill to pull it off without a trace, be willing to withstand the heat of a nationwide man hunt, and be well known enough to be hired by someone with Bin Laden like money and motive.

Let's see. . . marksman. . .uses rifle. . .bases attack on single aimed shot. Attacks from hidden place of safety, then disappears with little or no trace. Sounds like a sniper to me.

No offense meant Joe...

While I agree 100% That the coward gunning down innocent people would be better defined as an assasin. I don't understand the outrage at the term "sniper".

The dictionary defines it as:

snip·er

1.A skilled military shooter detailed to spot and pick off enemy soldiers from a concealed place.
2.One who shoots at other people from a concealed place.

Maybe the shooter is a former military sniper, or a wacko who fantasizes he is one. Either way, sniper describes the action not an official title.

I hope this kook gets caught before anymore lives are lost. I also hope that this assasin gets exactly what he's dishing out.
