There is only one other plausible explanation for the single-shot MO. Some people have suggested that firing a single shot prevents triangulation of the sniper's position. But then, how important is that to police?

The single-shot MO seems to contradict the theory that these are terrorists. OTOH, the cold-bloodedness seems to indicate terrorism since Prof. Fox could only name one similar case.

So these seem to be the only two possibilities.

I'm not following how the single-shot modus operandi seems to contradict the terrorist theory. To my line of thinking, the cold efficiency would be purposefully employed to heighten the sense of terror in the community. Being able to kill from a decent range without wasting a lot of ammo is by design a terror inducing concept. That's why military snipers are so effective. Not only do they take out people, but they do it behind enemy lines and follow up by escaping and evading, only to strike again.

Since, the media told the terrorist and the public last week that our school children were now the target of Islam, the terrorist cannot make them liars. Either that or ,if it is a white male ,he is trying to throw them off on their thinking.

Terrorism really doesn't need to be an assassination. Just getting a shot into someone is good enough. In fact having crippled victims on TV would serve their purpose almost as well. What he/she is doing is disrupting our way of life. And the one shot/escape MO is the absolute best way to do this, regardless if the victim lives or not.

The longer this goes on, the more effective the tactic will be.
