I think the Patriot Act pretty much wiped that out. I believe LE can now search and seize without a warrent. If anyone knows otherwise, please post.

(sigh), Please have at least a passing knowledge of facts before you post. The Patriot act lowers the bar for getting a warrant, but, for ANY search and/or seizure, a warrant is required. Therre are a few nit points but by and large it is not Carte Blanche. Please go to the DoJ website and download "Searching and Seizing Computers and obtaining evidence in Criminal Investigatins". This is the document that gives the procedures for ANY property siezures under the Patriot act.

Thanks for the info....I DID ask anyone who knew otherwise to feel free to post because I was posting from little to no first hand knowledge. I"m not trying to pass along erroneous info on purpose (sigh) Thanks!
