It's 6:30 a.m. EST and we're waiting to go to the second press conference providing media and local updates on the Maryland sniper shootings. To date, the 13 year old boy has survived the evening and seems to be improving. Fox News mentioned that his aunt is a nurse. The police briefing at 6:15 a.m. mentioned Todd Beamer's Let's Roll comment and police are urging people to use caution, good judgment, but remain strong and try to continue with everyday life as much as possible.
Police had a search warrant last night (didn't say for who or where) related to the sniper shootings, but the search did not provide any information to LEO.

Fantastic maps!
For the Friday shooting on Air Park Blvd, where is Air Park? If it is an airport it might not be listed as a 'park'.

Thanks for the info; I'd always thought the first incident was in the a.m. Glad Kim is bookmarking this for us so we can easily re-look at items like this.

You're not seriously suggesting that no one heard the shots are you? I go to an outdoor range that's near a busy road. From the road, at a distance of 200 yards, with intervening trees, the shooting is not particularly noticible over the regular traffic noise.

Any bets we see a lull now? Maybe take a week or two off and get everyone confident again. Then maybe another spree of shootings at a different location?

Fact #7.It appears that the killer has connected from long range at least once. Reports from yesterdays school shooting indicate that the shot came from
340 yards.
From the NY Daily News
Judging from an area of matted grass where a police dog sniffed gunfire residue, the maniacal marksman was lying in wait on a wooded hill above the school, watching through his scope as the kids arrived at the entrance 150 yards away.
340 Yards or 340 Feet?

Home made sliencer is easy to fashion...he is shooting from a park into areas that have traffic...he is NOT in the country...he is using URBAN NOISE as an advantage...I live in a major city...URBAN noise adds to the chaos.
He is a sniper, he is a murderer...he is NOT shooting people with an audience...a cemetary for example in the morning will have little or NO traffic...the other parks would be rather vacant in the morning on WORK DAYS, he is using his head...he is by no means an idiot...
JUST because he may be crazy doesn't mean he has to be a moron...

You've made quite the connection. Seems the authorities sure can use an investigator.

What is it with this term "coward"? My guess is that it's a ploy to draw him/them out. The worst thing now would be if they disappear from the radar screen and go into hiding with megabucks of increased local/fed activity.
Also, as someone mentioned above, it might deter copycats.

Batting eyes...saying ahhh shucks...dragging toe back and forth coyly....
I was raised in Maryland and my daughter is currently attending The Art Institute in Washington DC...as you can tell...I am a BIT concerned...

This is outstanding work.
On another thread, I speculated that the shooter(s) may want to get out of town like they did last Friday (2:30pm shooting in VA). I guessed they could go West on 66. I am not a big believer in the Michaels theory but there are three Michaels stores right off 66 going West. They are in Fairfax, Centreville and Manassas. I checked MapQuest and all of them have a park within 900 feet.

it was approx. 5:30 a.m. Wasn't it 5:30 PM?

Then the host went on to tie Gertz's book on 9/11 where a known Al-Qaeda cell was active in Prince George's County in the same town as one of the shootings. Must mean Bowie. I think there's only been the one shooting in PG County so far.

I wrote,
This is outstanding work. Just to clarify, I was talking about your post with the maps and park connection and not my comments.

Watch Largo and or Landover Maryland...they fit the "pattern" if a "pattern" has emerged...and keep an eye on Aspen Hill...the cemetery with a "Cross" in it...

Exactly, URBAN noise is the sniper's friend...

I'll go a step further: they (I think there are 2 people) are very young (late teens or very young adults and might actually have something personal against the school where the last shooting occurred. Former students, maybe.

On the Monday shot, it came from a hill area above wat is called "Tongue Ave" but doesn't exist. Not from Foxhill Park.

BTW, outstanding job! Bookmarking your maps.
