My wife's best friend is gay, and he is writing a children's book about two gay men. He says it's about teaching tolerance, diversity, blah blah blah.....you know the mantra.
Not to go off on a rant here, but I think that it's about forcing acceptance of a lifestyle on the general population. Who you have sex with is a behavior, nothing more and nothing less. To teach kids that self destructive behavior is OK is irresponsible self-justification.
Furthermore, this gay friend recently came 'out' to his mother (wonder why he waited until his Dad passed away, but that's another story). The news devastated the poor woman. The wife and I recently visited her and you can see that she's still coming to terms with the news a year later.
The 'tolerance and diversity' preachers don't talk about that side of the equasion. Guess that they figure it's someone else's problem.
