I just emailed Forrester's office saying it is a good idea. The more emails he receives, the better the chance of his doing it.

Great. And if any of you NJ Freepers get a chance, mention it to Forrester PERSONALLY the next time he is campaigning in your area.

I don't like Howard Stern, and I've never watched or listened to him, but I still think you're right.

You can't become Governor of the State of New Jersey by putting your nose in the air and playing holier than thou. It ain't that kind of state.

Sadly Brett Shundler learned that lesson the hard way.

CONGRATULATIONS!!! You are the FIRST to post something negative about Howard Stern on this thread. Yes, because YOU don't like Howard then Doug Forrester should shun him and lose the election in NJ. Better for that to happen than for the Republicans to regain the Senate (and smack that smug smirk off Jumpin' Jim's face).

For your "insightful" analysis you win a trip to.....SCORES!!! Enjoy the free lapdance.

Great idea ...

Stern is the most human entertainer out there, just himself, flawed but truthful. He is also hilarious.

And he is a flawed but practicing Catholic, which is perhaps the most fascinating detail of his life.

Howard Stern is the type of person that we in South Jersey
(Cape May County) voted to separate from the North Jersey
idiots several years ago (unfortunatly it was a non-binding referendom)
We down here were one of the few "red areas" in the 2000
election. Can you say the same???

Stern supported Pataki, Whitman, and Giuliani.

He is a straight shooter who can never be accused of doing the PC thing and supporting some liberal who is wrong for his listeners.

He is definitely worth at least100,000 votes, and you are absolutely right, now is the time for Forrester to reach out to the King of All Media and humbly request his endorsement.

This idea can't hurt. It will appeal to Independents and Undecideds. Really, will any Forrester voter will not vote for him if he goes on the Howard Stern show.

It's a net gainer.

He should definitely call Howard. And I want to see Rudy out there campaigning for him too. Guiliani telling the voters they have to do something about the corruption would really help.

That would be sweet.

Does Stern have the same appeal he had before he got divorced/separated? Is he still syndicated nationwide? I moved near KC a few years back and haven't listened in eons.

I have twice heard Stern make subtle but unmistakable remarks about his Catholicism. One was when he was making fun of the Pope; I forget his exact words. At the time, I was new to listening to Stern, and knew next to nothing about him. I just assumed it was a known fact.

The other was when he was in Las Vegas last time, when Yucko the anti-semitic clown was on. Someone referred to Jimmy Kimmel as a Jew, and Kimmel responded: "For the record, I want to say I am a Roman Catholic." After which, very softly, and almost lost among the background noise, Stern said, "I want to say that for the record too."

One of Stern's funniest remarks I have heard, was when he said a couple years ago, "half of me is Jewish and the other half is anti-semitic." This is not proof of anything, except that there is another "half" from the one most people focus upon.

A friend of mine attended Mass at St Patrick's this last Christmas, actually a couple weeks before, and coincidentally sat next to Stern, who was with his daughter. When my friend expressed surprise at seeing him under those circumstances, Stern said he attended Mass regularly and was a practicing Catholic.

When I listen to Stern, I hear an unmistakable, underlying compassion, and a commitment to principles, which are not necessarily proof of religious conviction, but which are not inconsistent with it.

You need to get up to speed on Howard's bio. Trust me. His mom AIN'T Catholic. And your friend who claimed to have seen Howard in Church was pulling your leg.
