Doug---CALL HOWARD!!! (How Forrester Can WIN In NJ)
Self | October 7, 2002 | PJ-Comix

Posted on 10/07/2002 4:32:14 PM PDT by PJ-Comix

Fellow Freeper, hchutch, has been trying for weeks to get me to set the wheels in motion for Douglas Forrester to call in to the Howard Stern show. And for weeks, I've been putting him off with the explanation that since Forrester was so far ahead in the polls against that crook, Torricelli, that this would be unnecessary. Then hchutch contacted me again last week when it appeared that Frank Lautenberg would be replacing the Crooked Torch on the ballot. Again I put him off with the explanation that if SCOTUS overturned the NJ Supreme Court that this would also be unneccessary.

Okay, folks, NOW it is NECCESSARY!!! Douglas Forrester MUST call in to Howard Stern on his radio show. If he does so it means a MINUMUM of an extra 100,000 votes (probabably a lot more) for him in November. This would give Forrester the election.

I sure hope Forrester's advisors don't make the same mistake as the folks advising Bret Shundler when he ran for NJ governor. A friend of mine had close ties with Shundler's advisors and passed along the suggestion that Shundler call in to Howard's show. When I got the word back that the timid Shundler advisors nixed that idea, I got so upset that I almost pulled an Elvis on my computer monitor.

So, PLEASE, Doug Forrester. DON'T make the same mistake as Bret Shundler. Just call in to the Howard Stern show. It doesn't mean you have to paint some chick's nekkid breasts or hang out with Howard at Scores or pledge obedience to Satan. Just call in to Howard and have some fun for a few minutes. Maybe you could even promise Howard that if elected Senator, you would try to have a NJ toxic waste dump named after him.

For a time investment of less than 10 minutes you will guarantee yourself victory in November. Since you are pro-choice and since Howard STRONGLY supports Bush's effort against Iraq (Howard flamed the Hollywood liberals today on his show who opposed action against Iraq) then I think you and Howard would hit it off.

Please, Mr. Forrester. I don't want to see Tom Dasshole as MAJORITY LEADER next term. Plus I would love to see that stupid smirk knocked off Jim Jefford's face.

p.s. If you doubt Howard's effectiveness as a vote-getter, then check with NY Governor Pataki who went from 20 points behind Mario Cuomo a week before the 1994 election to winning the election by 6 points---Thanx to Howard's support. This was why Howard was the GUEST OF HONOR at Pataki's inauguration.

And we might need every last one of them.

Maybe Bush ought to go on, too. Why not? What have we got to lose?

A lot of Freepers HATE Howard... Good point, a lot of Freepers hate Katie Couric and the rest of the lib media too. I say he should do it!

However, methinks Freepers are getting a lot more practical.

I'm starting to agree -- and it's a good thing.

He is a Kingmaker. Instant 100,00 votes in Jawsey.

Probably a lot more. I was being conservative in my estimate.

Howard does carry that much clout. Good thought.

Now, just what is wrong with painting a chick's boobs or going to Scores?

One of Forrester's biggest problems is that he just appears to be a "stuffed shirt" kind of guy. I realize he isn't, but it's his voice and demeanor that sends that message to those who don't know him.

I think you have a good idea here, and if he could go on there and laugh at himself it would go a long way.

I don't see any downside to this plan of action -- what does Doug have to lose? I don't like Howard Stern but I could care less if Doug went on his show... and I would respect him more, not less, for wanting to win this election.

Nope. And my friend who had a connection with the Shundler campaign has NO connection with the Forrester campaign. I am just hoping that maybe one of Forrester's campaign people see this post. This is a NO-BRAINER!!!

Good point! Forrester needs to go on Howard's show to demonstrate his "human" side. Plus he would get Howard's endorsement. Don't ANY NJ Freepers out there know of someone working in the Forrester campaign? If not, perhaps you should PERSONALLY relay this message to Forrester when you see him campaigning around the state. If I lived in NJ I would definitely check his campaign schedule and then make the suggestion while shaking his hand. You might even want to print out this thread and hand it to Forrester. It would be the MOST IMPORTANT suggestion of his campaign.

p.s. I think Howard already dislikes Lautenberg. I think when Lautenberg was running in '92, Howard was grumbling about him and suggested that his opponent call in to the show. The opponent never did call in and you know the rest of the story.

He should call in tomorrow, when Gilbert's sitting in for the news.

An endorsement from Dracula Gottfried might bring in even more votes.

I'd also recommend the "Howard Stern, Political Guru" article as well.

We need to get the pressure on Forrester ASAP.

Attention all you Jersey Freepers. Please try to contact SOMEONE on Forrester's campaign staff about this suggestion for Forrester to appear on Howard Stern's radio show. If you don't know of anyone on his campaign staff then please check Forrester's campaign schedule and PERSONALLY make the suggestion to him when he appears near you (not tough since NJ isn't a big state geographically).

This will be the MOST IMPORTANT thing Forrester can do to win in November. I will be making more posts on this thread in the near future as to the incredible effect that Howard has had in past elections. However, in the meantime PLEASE relay the message to Forrester. I don't know about you but I really need to smack that smug smirk off of Jumpin' Jim Jefford's face.

Howard clearly put Whitman over the top in her first race. Howard appeals to the masses of "sheeple" who routinely show up as "don't care" or "undecided" on opinion polls. These are precisely the type of people who decide close elections

My husband is almost totally unaware politically and even he told me that Howard put Whitman over the top.

Go for it! Can't beat it for name recognition and showing the world that he has a sense of humor (if he can be good natured about it).

I have a personal story about Howard and candidates that I will relay here in more detail later. Basically it had to do with a letter I sent Howard warning him that even though he endorsed Jerry Brown for the Presidency in '92, that Brown would eventually stab Howard in the back. Howard grumbled about my warning on the air but later apologized (sort of) and stated that he should have listened to me. Over a period of 5 years, I sent Howard one letter per week, many of which he read over the air. However, he didn't really start reading them until after my warning about Brown proved correct.

More details later after I get some supper in my gut.

Well, Howard helped Patacki, Whitman (she even named a reststop lavatory after him), Giuliani and D'Amato; I'm sure he will help Doug get elected.
