Thank you, "Bones," for your thorough answer. If this child does recover from the gunshot wounds, will he be able to lead a normal life? I am praying for him, poor kid.

Dear Wolfstar,
His recovery depends on how successful the physicians and nurses were at establishing adequate blood pressure and oxygenation. Part of the immediate response to massive trauma is establishing an airway and checking his breathing. From the sounds of it, he probably had blood pooling in his chest (the bullet wound was described as penetrating the stomach and lungs). I'm sure that we won't know the full situation for about one week at least.

Prayers matter here. I think it's up the Lord now.
