"the Dems secretly hoped to have the SCOTUS take the case, so they could demagogue it"

bingo.
they wanted to nationalize all the senate races, and use an activist US supreme court as a theme for radicalizing the campaigns... issue DENIED. heh heh.
And the patently corrupt way in which they attempted this, WILL now instead resonate with the right-wingers and activate OUR base, MORE than ever...

another shot in the foot by a failing and staggering democraptic party.... it's actually quite a gift to us...

The problem is the ticking time bomb it leaves behind:
The fact is, the Dems have gotten away with a blatant and brazen "bait and switch", and quite possibly, they have gotten away with disenfranchising military personnel.

There is clearly federal law on this front, and there needs to be a VERY strong response to this in the next Congress. Hopefully, we have the House and Senate, so we will have a good chance at moving something that imposes a hard cap on the ballots.

We've also got to be a little more willing to fight dirty with the Dems, too. This isn't pleasant, but we have to do it. We've also got to pull together even if we don't necessarily like the Republican. There is NO effing way a third-party guy can win a House or Senate election, so if we don't hang together, we will definitely hang seperately.

I said last week, that Lautenberg was a gift. There is no way that a 78 yr old, retired from politics for 2 years, can be brought up to speed on the issues, campaign, make public appearances, debate, give newspaper interviews, appear on tv shows, appear on call in radio shows, etc. It's going to be physically exhausting, which will expose his mental and physical frailties. The Republicans all across the country should ask their Dem opponents, to pledge that they will not withdraw from their particular race, at the last minute. Make this action national. The age differences should be highlighted-the question should be asked, should Lautenberg have a stroke or die in office, who would the Dems appoint? Ronald Reagan ( whom the Dems ridiculed as being too old and out of touch) was 78- When He Left Office!!! Not when he was elected!!!He will be the oldest Senator in the US ,if elected- the Strom Thurmond and Jesse Helms of the Democrat Party!!! We need his medical records!!!
