You nailed it... but speak quietly... we don't want to offend Muslim Americans with good old "conservative" logic.

Bullet "proof" vests are not prohibited in any state that *I* am aware of, although there may be exceptions.
There has been some talk recently from the anti-gunners about banning convicted felons from owning them, or maybe it was about enhancing penalties if one is used in a crime, or something like that.
But seriously, buy one now while they are still legal.

Prohibited in NJ, that I know.

What is the reasoning for that? I don't get it. Just because they don't want the 'bad guys' to have them why can't law abiding citizens have them if they want them? Can you believe that we are even having this discussion about bullet proof vests? Good grief, how far we have come!
We all need to pray for those people in those communities in Maryland and DC. This is very, very sad.

Well, that being the case, then I got some bad info from a news show. Imagine that.

I just read a report that terrorists were thought to be going to start attacking our school kids. I sure PRAY this isn't what is happening. It is so sad, but lets all just pray this is an isolated incidence of a WHACKO!!!, and NOT Jihadism.

Thanks. Not inexpensive, but doable. I'm glad I was wrong.

The funeral you are referring to was for the cab driver who was INDIANS. As in from India. They are not muslim. As a matter of observation, I suggest they may have been christian based on the funeral and the facility the funeral was being held in.According to this morning's Washington Post, the funeral was in a Seventh Day Adventist Church.
Not surprising, as the Adventists proselytize and do well with immigrants, whereas the mainline denominations are mostly too ecumenical to think sharing the gospel is important.

Do they still think it was a white van...
This highlights one of the modern media's most serious faults their sloppy or non-existent fact checking or updating. There never was a white VAN. The vehicle in question is a white mid-sized commercial truck of the type that is commonly seen almost everywhere. Here are examples made by Isuzu (although the truck in question has been described as either an Isuzu or Mitsubishi):
I have heard some reports that the truck in question had a four-wheel rear axle, but who knows if this is accurate or not. Also, the truck may have just finished making a delivery and was driving away when a shooting occurred in the adjacent parking lot. The truck may or may not be associated with these crimes at all.
...what common characteristics, if any, do the victims share?
They share no obvious common characteristics. If this morning's shooting of the 13-year-old boy was done by the same perp or perps, this was the ninth shooting and he was the eighth person shot. The first shooting was through the window of a building and no one was hit. All targets after that were hit. They are white, black, Hispanic, and one Indian (from India), male and female, all different age groups, all doing different activities at the time they were hit.

FOX had someone on discussing these shootings. I don't remember the guys name but he was mentioning years ago a pipe bomber who geographically bombed in the midwest to 'draw' a 'smiley face' on the map of the US--large enough to cover several states. Anyway, this guy was talking about the geographic pattern in these recent shootings seemed to fit a wedge pattern. Don't know the value of that. It is disappointing that more information isn't given concerning the connection, if any, between the victims and other information. People in that area have no idea what to keep a look out for. It must be absolutely terrifying for them all.
Do you know anything about patterns and serial killers? I never heard of that before.

Hank, thanks for the link. Terribly expensive stuff but worth every penny should it ever be needed. I wonder, have citizens of Israel come to the point yet of wearing armor? I guess it's not much different than needing and using their gas masks. Weird world we live in!

The Smiley Face bomber was either earlier this year or late last year; he was after 9/11. I think he was a college student or dropout, in any event a real head case who went around blowing up mailboxes in the midwest. I seem to remember at least one in Iowa. They caught him. You could probably find it in FR archives.

I believe you, but really? Man, where was I? ;) I do recall something about a few mailbox bombings but never knew there were this many that connected to make a smiley face. What weirdos! I seriously thought they were talking about something that happened years ago. Thanks for filling me in. Doesn't sound like anyone was killed. Were there any deaths in that case?
