but she should have had a cell phone and called 9-11 instead of using her car as an ambulance With severe bleeding and no first aid kit, the kid would be dead on arrival of the ambulance. I hope she was able to get a bystander to go with her, to apply pressure while they went to the nearest hospital. Although that hospital was not a trauma center they could at least stabilize the patient.

Don't hospitals up north start working on the patient en-route to the ambulance? We have Bayflite helicopters that arrive on scene for accidents and fires. I guess living in Florida has some advantages in medical matters. It's all perspective, isn't it?

If at all humanly possible I would never wait for the police to arrive. First they come to see if you really need an ambulance then the ambulance is dispatched....wasting more time.......the mom did the right thing.
