Thanks Sac..that I can agree with. I hope that it's over, and won't happen any more.

I see your point re: immigration. They've lost their right to live here if their religion thinks we are infidels. I don't know if you ever listen to Michael Savage but he says something about borders and cultures and I think he's absolutely right.

I thought the perps were AQ too until I read a post mentioning someone's comments about he/they being addicted to violent video games and wanting to get a new level of thrill by shooting real people instead of virtual ones. Considering the extreme level of violence of some of the more "realistic" games on the market nowadays, I do find this hypothesis very interesting and wouldn't be surprised at all if it were the case. They might even be school age kids and it would shed a different light on the last shooting.

Also, the fact that the last 2 victims weren't fatally wounded does seem to indicate that it's now a different shooter in a 2 men team. But I think the one doing the driving for the first shootings is now doing the shootings himself while the other one drives. And he isn't as well trained as the other one.

If that's the case, I assume it must be very frustrating for this second shooter and he'll want to continue until he gets a "perfect" shot. This might be a potential source of conflict with the other shooter who might want to cool it for a while.... Just a thought...

Statistically, there's not enough evidence to show that pattern, but intuitively, it might hold water. Right now, all we have is pure speculation, sadly.

An "expert" on FNC said the police recovered a shell casing middle school. Sounds like it was a .223 case.

9/11 has completely changed what we have to work with hasn't it..we can't predict human behaviour like we use to...

"recovered a shell casing "

I figured the shooter was picking the casings up before he left..interesting.

I would think defending the next potential victim would be even harder. An unknown shooting an unknown, how would that be easier? I guess if every person in the country was armed, and on the lookout 24/7, it would be possible, but I still don't see how you id an unknown, until after the fact.

he probably was, But as an experienced hunter, I can tell you that sometimes they are not as easy to find as you might think, especially if your are under stress, and in a hurry. In his stiuation seconds count, he didn't have the luxary of 2-3 minutes to locate the spent case.

That makes sense. It appeared the sniper was not always driving a vehicle and there are trees near the school. I suppose if the computer, etc. yields probable cause, they'll pick up the guy but they won't give his name if he's muslim. If he happens to be something else, they'll give his name.

You are thinking about guerilla warfare. (I don't know if that's the correct sp, whatever). It's a distinct possibility IMO.

Throw in that they have a search warrant for a house with a computer and it could easily be Al Quaeda. They love emailing other evil doers. They could all live in the same area if it's more than one guy.

I'm speculating but, I'm guessing it is a federal case as well as a state crime now (across interstate lines). Wasn't there a shooting in Virginia that was connected to the shootings in Maryland.

That may be why Dibiagio is involved at the federal level.

In Maryland they also have Maryland State Police Task forces
made up of local and state law enforcement agencies and the FBI.

I have the formation documents for the Worcester County Bureau of Investigation (WCBI)and it is made up of local and state law enforcement agencies only.

The FBI refused to join the WCBI even though the formation documents have a designated place for the FBI to sign if they want to join.

One of these task forces might give the feds jurisdiction.

Hi, just in from out of town. Re this wall -- I recall a local news video shot of the DC detectives, including the guy I really like, Lt. Dave Jackson, looking "over" a brick wall. They were being filmed doing it on the scene, the night of the shooting. So I saw a video shot of a brick wall -- well, I assume it's the same one -- on the news the evening after that shooting.

The diagrams for the two more common military versions of the 5.56 round might be more on point.

Indeed, if it was a certainty that a 5,56mm weapon had been used in all the cases; I understand that's not yet at all certain. And I might agree if the first five shootings had resulted in a ratio of about 1 victim killed out of every 3 hit, the usual ratio for 55-grain M193 ball at distances under 150 meters, as experienced by US combat troops in Vietnam at such ranges. Reports from the recent efforts in Afghanistan indicate that the M855 ball ammunition, particularly when used in the shorter-barrelled M4 carbine, is even less effective in terms of stopping effect, if not accuracy. Accordingly, I'd bet that those first several shots were using softpoint or hollowpoint bullets, which though conjecture makes for a pretty fair working assumption.

Pieces of recovered bullet jacket material can be identified and linked to others from the same lot, fired or unfired, by neutron analysis examination, as well as other mettalurgical testing, whether enough of the deformed bullet is available for comparison testing or not. That'll take a little longer than just sticking a recovered bullet and an exemplar under a comparison mike, but happily, the FBI lab is quite nearby, and the recovered evidence will have high priority for processing, I'm sure.

Could be a single shot, either break action, falling block, etc.

Or even a cheap, pawnshop bolt-action repeater missing its magazine. If it's a Savage 340 with interchangable barrels, that'll muddy the ballistic comparisons of recovered bullets nicely.

This is what Israel deals with everyday

Among the other problems Israel has had to deal with lately is terrorist snipers using Israeli weapons and wearing Israeli uniform. Their targets have included Moslem civilians, for whose deaths Israel is then blamed by the helpful propaganda machinery thrpoughout the world, and in other cases have included Israeli soldiers and police, who them become more jittery and more likely to open fire on each other.

Accordingly, it's quite likely that if this is indeed a terrorist-managed event, we might soon see someone dressed in a police or security uniform open up on a crowd of innocents. Or, it's also possible that it's been a terrorist or terrorist sympathizer who has worked his way into a police job....

The FBI refused to join the WCBI....One of these task forces might give the FBI jurisdiction.

Not surprising, since an FBI agent was the target of a grand jury in the last .223 shooting of an unarmed victim in Maryland, and the FBI still faces both a civil lawsuit and charges of attempting to intimidate witnesses and obstruct justice in the investigation of that event.
