The inference that he rejects evolution is false, as Patterson specifically stated in the letter I posted in 912 that his talk was addressed to systematists, and "concerned systematics, nothing else". It is not, and never was intended to be a general rejection of evolution, merely a discussion of the difficulties evolution presented to biological systematists. To infer otherwise in the face of Patterson's own statements about his talk and the motives behind it is unfair - surely Patterson himself knew far better than any of us why he said what he said...
