"Can anyone answer to why the Bush administration is OPPOSED to this getting rid of this insance injustice to our diabled vets?"

The reason I got from a Senator was that it COST TOO MUCH!

What a load of B*LLSH*T! If it's the right thing to do, cost shouldn't be an obstacle.

Besides, the numbers being provided the WH by the OMB are way inflated. They estimate a cost of $20B for the Senate version. That number is a gross over-estimate!

Thanks and the same to you.

I'm sure there are some that do try to milk the system, but the overwhelming majority of Vets don't.

I've been trying to generate some intrest in this issue here for some time! Glad you seem to have succeeded.

This is a screwjob on retired disabled vets that's been going on for more than a CENTURY! Retired vets are presently required to fund their own, service-connected disabilities! Its absurd! How did it go on for so long?

Once a vet has outlived his/her usefulness, Congress FORGETS the service they gave over 20+ years, war and peace.

A DISGRACE! SHAME, CONGRESS!

Please take a minute or two to phone/fax/email/write President Bush your Congressman and Senators and express your support for Concurrent Receipt for Retired Disabled Veterans.

Sorry,I'm with Bubba-2 on this. Concurent pay is the equivalent of paying retired service members twice for the same thing. They already get their retirement, and this would just amount to a welfare payment for veterans. What about the vets who didn't retire from the military, but are getting service-connected disability ratings from the VA for wounds and injuries suffered while on duty? Do you propose to pay THEM the full retirement of a 30 year man? If not,why not?

Folks, this is nothing but just one more class of people wanting something for nothing. It's rare to meet ANY retired service members who aren't drawing some kind of disability pay also. If nothing else, they get 10% for "stress".

One thing I always keep in mind is their salary levels while they worked an entire career protecting American citizens. They deserve larger salaries and better retirements than we are alloting them.

Apples and organges = disability and pension.

That's true, but there is also a huge difference between various jobs in the military, yet they all pay the same. Look at the beating a solider takes who has spent 20+ years in the airborne infantry when compared to a soldier of the same rank who worked in a motor pool or finance office. And that isn't even taking the risk of death into account.

You are entitled to your opinion.

I don't thing 20 years of active duty to earn a retirement check as something for nothing.

I did and sent this in another e-mail to the President.

Dear President Bush,

I was appalled when I read this report about our veterans. You promised to help them and you must honor that promise. Trim a little aid to Afghanistan and other countries and keep your promise. Who ever devised this Ponzi scheme to deprive our Military Veterans of their just rewards in the first place and those that went along, all deserve to give up some of their retirement pay and a percentage of their salaries. More theft from the government and it needs to be stopped.

Sincerely,
XXX

Keep this post up for a week, I have sent it onto all I can.
