Yeah, I know what you're talking about -- my mother is Irish and Scottish. I'm referring more to writing style than fatness of mouth, though. It's difficult for some people, including myself, to restrain their mouths. However, when people are writing, especially at a supposedly "professional" level, they should be more efficient. Unless, of course, their job is to obfuscate nonsense, and it looks like that's exactly what they do at the Guardian.

Fatness of mouth? Hey!!! I'm an American gal of Irish/Scottish heritage and I'm very quiet, shy, reserved in my speech and all. Just ask anyone who knows me. :-)
