ALBANY, Indiana (AP) -- An Indiana wife looking for a little more appreciation went on strike at home -- and found instant celebrity.
Kathy Thompson quit doing housework September 25, refusing to do laundry, cook or make the bed. She said she was tired of working, going to school and caring for the house while her husband Gary went out fishing.

What an attention whore.
If the husband doesnt dump this woman instantly, then he is a Pu$$y of the highest order. Airing dirty laundry, should get her ass FIRED.

Yes marriages are partnerships. I find it hard to believe that all this guy does ALL the time is fish. I would like to think he might do outside house chores. I think this is just "her" side. I would like to hear what he has to say before I jump on her side.
Beside I wouldn't mind if my husband fished ALL the time. That's just more yummy fish for me cook for dinner. For that I'd never mind doing housework.
Now stop FReepin and go do your housework! :)

"Like I keep telling people," she said, "This wasn't for publicity. This is a personal thing." Then why the big sign in the front yard? Let me see if I get this right, the man goes to college and studies for 'x' years, and gets a job. He marries and tries to support the family. Newsflash ... housework isn't that hard. Every man who has lived by himself realizes this; they are just forbidden from mentioning it. Push a vacuum every couple of days, laundry ... how long does it take? Maybe 4 hours a week? Cooking ... maybe 15 min prep, and 30 min cleanup. Let's contrast this to the typical 40+ hr workweek.

That woman is 45 years old? Good Lord, she looks 80. Maybe that's why her husband goes fishing. (Catty maybe, but geez)

She said she was tired of working, going to school and caring for the house while her husband Gary went out fishing. She should be going fishing WITH her husband. Maybe have a couple beers and relax, while they're at it. Then, they could discuss somehow getting her a life so she doesn't feel the need to put a sign out by the road announcing that she is a housewife on strike. Sheesh!

Wow, makes me stop to think that I need to show appreciation for my "House Husband". My husband stays at home and takes care of our 5 kids (oopps 4 now that my teenager is off to college). I work full-time - leave at 7:00 get home at 6:30. He runs the show, has the kids do all the chores - he's got it all figured out. It's estimated that his job at home is worth about $38,000 a year, made him feel better when a price tag was added to all that is done at home with the kids etc. I've been starting to gripe about his weekend motorcyle rides, but after listening to this lady's story, I'm glad he has a hobby and doesn't complain when I come home from work and after eating dinner that he made, sit in front of the TV to watch baseball!!!

What a twit this woman is.. her job is housework, cooking and kids REGARDLESS of whether her husband goes fishing or helps her or not. Fine, then maybe she should quit her job outside the home, since after all, her job is housework, cooking and kids. But something tells me that wouldn't be okay with her husband, as he no doubt likes the money she brings in. Her husband only has one job; why does she have to have two?

"refusing to do laundry, cook or make the bed."

Hey! She's good material for a country western singer. She reminds me of Loretta Lynn.
