I have a complementary copy of a software program called Ad-Aware. Everytime I visit the Drudge site, I get a "cookie," which my Ad-Aware software flags. The file is as follows:

C:\windows\cookies\MY HARDDRIVE NAME\@fastclick[1].txt

The file remains on my PC until I remove it. I was told that Ad-Aware flags hidden add related files that could be broadcasting information from my PC. I wonder if this is an accurate accessment, or if Ad-Aware is just another program to fascinate computer dummies like me.

I have Ad-aware too. It detects "spyware" according to my computer-expert brother. We found some spyware on my hard drive, but nothing really bad so far. I'm going to keep using it.

I use AdSubtract to keep cookies out.
