Good point. I said something similar to my mother, that we basically live assuming basic non-interest/goodwill from our neighbors. Anyone can snipe me as I bike or walk to a convenience store in Seattle.

Heck, the guy sitting behind me on the bus may decide I have to die and slashes my throat. Needless to say, I look around at people a bit more than I did years ago.
