RCB COMMENTS: Are there any doubts of why Castro gets to negotiate with visiting politicians? Have you seen any of these names in the recent news visiting Castro? For one, socialist despicable Maxine is a regular Havana visitor. Chumming with a murderer! Doing business with the enemy is un-American, and enjoying the benefits afforded by their positions paid by the U.S. taxpayer is ludicrous. These hypocrites have better health and retirement plans than most of us, and instead of being grateful, they want Socialism or the worse for the people they represent. That says it all. NO HONOR OR INTEGRITY! WE MUST GET RID OF THEM ON THE NEXT ELECTION !!! WAKE UP AMERICA; IT IS LATER THAN YOU THINK.

That list is a bit out of date... Some updates on some members of DSA: Cynthia A. McKinney-GA (defeated); Earl Hilliard-AL (defeated); Lynn N. Rivers-MI (defeated); Carlos A. Romero-Barcelo-PR (defeated in 2000)
Julian C. Dixon-CA (dead); George E. Brown-CA (dead); Patsy Mink-HI (dead)
Esteban Edward Torres-CA (retired in 1999); Carrie P. Meek-FL (retiring in 2003); David Bonior-MI (retiring in 2003); John LaFalce-NY (retiring in 2003); Elizabeth Furse-OR (retired in 1999)

Do a search on the Democratic Socialists of America within FR - I did a post a week or two ago on them with lots of replies, and so did a few others. It's an outrage that the RNC isn't jumping all over this. The last count we had was 58 members. Additionally, the DLC itself is a member organization within the Socialists International - or the International Communist Party. Essentially, the Democratic Leadership Committee is a Communist organization.

I do not argue that the are socialists but I have never seen that they are members of the DSA. It keeps getting posted on FR but no one ever gives any direct reference.

Looks like 30 of them (more or less) are from Calif. How many in the Cal state capitol ?

Socialists. Wow! Someone's charitable. A communist by any other name would still be a red. But islamism's got us all confused a little now. Except those who subscribe to its primitivism. Or its foster parent who hides in its robes and, whatever it wraps about it's head.

McDermott, Bonior, Hilliard, & McKinney are all part of that group. Probably just a coincidence.

54 socialists? I would have said more like 400.

add Bill Coyne - PA - Retiring.
THANK GOD!!!!! That moron has been my congressman for most of the past 12 years - yelled at me back in 1992 when he was at a anti-welfare reform rally at the University of Pittsburgh that was sponsored by some leftists faculty and grad students. And he is dumber than a post to boot - and in 20+ years in congress has sponsored only 1 bill: designating an aviary in pittsburgh as the "National Aviary." Meanwhile, tens of thousands of people and jobs have left his district. He has been voted something like the "least influential" member of Congress, and for good reason.
And yet people here still kiss his ass and say he is a good Catholic that goes to mass everyday. Then he votes to have the government pay for abortions, recognize gay marriage, and to surrender to Iraq.

"Democratic Socialists of America"
. . .ah yes, and we now have the 'Democratic' Party. . .
This is the latest transition for Democrats who do not like the their name ending in 'rats' apparently; while at the same time, using the same Democrat MO as these Socialists, hiding precisely what they are, under a name that conveys their opposite. .
It's is working and even Rush refers to these people as 'Democratic Senator' etc., and to the 'Democratic' Party. . .
. . .feel an angry cringe everytime I hear this.
The DemocRAT Party and DemocRATS forever; should they last that long.

Whoops, yeah, forgot about Coyne. I assume you're going to be in Doyle's new district ? At least he's got a better voting record, but he's also an ex-GOP apostate who helped screw us on redistricting in '90. :-|

I do not argue that the are socialists but I have never seen that they are members of the DSA. It keeps getting posted on FR but no one ever gives any direct reference. These people are members of the Progressive Cacaus. about four years ago the DSA listed them as members, with a link to the Progressive Cacaus membership list. A link to the DSA web site was posted here on Freerepublic, Rush, and many other talk show hosts talked about it. The Socialists started getting confronted by constituents, it didn't take long until any mention of the Progressive Cacaus was removed from the DSA web site. Their canned answer was that they didn't, and never had belonged to any organization with the word Socialist in it's name.

"I do not argue that the are socialists but I have never seen that they are members of the DSA. It keeps getting posted on FR but no one ever gives any direct reference." A DSA representative named Llewellyn was interviewed on C-SPAN a few years back and confirmed that only two members of Congress are card carrying members - they are Major Owens (NY) and Danny Davis (IL). He also confirmed that John Sweeney, the AFL-CIO commie rat leader is also a member. The latter fact was also reported in the Washington Times years ago. I have heard a few times that Sweeney is also affiliated with both the French and Italian communist parties but I can't find a hard reference to prove that - wish I could.
That C-SPAN interview was discussed in a few threads back then and you might find it in the FR archives, and someone probably has a tape of it. C-SPAN certainly has it, but it's a few years old and probably would require some work to get it from them if you really wanted it.
Bernie Sanders is no longer the chair of that "progressive caucus", a POS named Dennis Kucinich is. I am particularly PO'ed because thanks to REPUBLICAN redistricting in Ohio which they blew big time I am going to get stuck with this RAT, along with many fine Republican communities who will have absolutely no voice in DC anymore.
While they may not be card carrying members of DSA (at least Owens and Davis are honest enough to admit it) it doesn't take a genius to figure out that the "progressive caucus" is the de facto legislative arm of the DSA. There is all kinds of proposed legislation by these guys that has DSA's fingerprints all over it.

The links have all been deleted from the DSA site. They used to have the list of all the progressive members, as well as an explanation of why they work as a subsidiary within the DNC, rather than a separate third party. They also had live links to all the unions and charities that were associated with the DSA, including Catholic Charities. They changed it, though, about a year and half ago, because some of the congressmen were taking alot of heat from their constituents.
