I got to go to Blackjack one day and watch the F-5 Aggressor pilots eat up the F-15 and F-16s - pretty neat. Amazing how experience beats hardware every time, eh?
You're right of course. I should have known from the tail graphics in your photo... I mistook those aircraft for these F-16N Miramar Aggressors... definitely a mistake on my part.
Yes, I agree it is weird, but the Navy *does* operate some 16s (or rather... DID... until they ran outta money in the mid 90s, according to the linked page).

Navy used to fly Israeli Kfirs for a little while too.
The Aggressors had an advantage of sorts - the F-5 was a little more nimble than the F-15 and F-16, depending on the circumstances - higher roll rate than the F-16. That, and they flew with Soviet tactics - flying in wolfpacks.

Hmmm... that reminds me a little bit of the A4... one my favorite small military aircraft. But then, I'm partial to anything the Blue Angels have flown.

I sent my pittance in snail mail. It is tough for politically involved people to give in an election year. you are competing for funds with Candidates who need care and feeding.
