Terror suspect worked at Mayor Katz's office
PORTLAND - The Portland Mayors Office has informed KATU News that their office has a direct connection to Patrice Lumumba Ford, one of three terror suspects arrested by the FBI Joint Terrorism Task Force in Portland today.
Mayor Katz said in her statement: Todays arrests are the result of partnerships formed between the Portland Police Bureau and the FBI...todays arrests have had a surprising dimension for my office. One of the suspected terrorists arrested today, Patrice Lumumba Ford, worked as an intern twice in my office. The first time was from May to July in 1998, and again in September 1999.
Ford also worked as an intern for Portland Mayor Bud Clark in 1986.
Later in her statement Katz stated that Ford re-contacted a member of her staff in 2001, and the details of this renewed interaction concerned Katzs staff enough that a known list of Fords contacts was forwarded to the Portland Police Bureau for evaluation.
Because of Fords indictment, the Mayors office can offer no further details on Fords employment there.
