"And I want all the terrorists-in-training/hiding in the US to be hunted down by the authorities; and I frighten myself when I find myself thinking that I want them to resist when caught so that we won't have to waste taxpayer dollars on a trial."
You know, I saw Osama's face on TV last night (that excellent Frontline special on FBI Agent Tom O'Neil -- I'm no fan of Frontline but I recommend it) and I realized I *really* wanted Osama Bin Laden dead. And it *should* have frightened me -- I remember thinking, hmm, that's not healthy -- and then I realized, well, it's war. It's war. I'm not so worried about wasting tax dollars prosecuting. I just want the Al Qaeda people dead even if that were more expensive. We're taught that revenge is evil, but when it's national self-defense, and you wish such killers extinguished for *everyone's* benefit, I wonder if it's really bad or wrong?
Hmm. I guess I know what my minister would say.
