I watched a bit of Kyra Phillips on CNN over the lunch hour. As she held a .223 bullet in her manicured hand, she smiled tensely at the former DC SWAT team member and said (and you can't make this up), "This is a really accurate bullet, isn't it?"

It had me on the floor in hysterics. Now I'm not a hunter, but my Daddy was & he did teach me how to shoot, and I don't ever remember him telling me that bullets had any degree of accuracy all by themselves.

The ATF weenie in the WashCompost picture was claiming that it was most likely a scoped, bolt action, 30-06.

Give the poor twit a break. The .223 was specifically designed for accuracy. I believe it was intended as a deer hunting mod of the .220 Swift. I've been out of this loop for several decades, but that's how I remember it.
