The long and the short of it is that we now have commitments far in excess of anything Clinton planned, with even larger commitments in Iraq yet to come. And we are doing it with a military that was streached thin to begin with. So what have we done in the last two years to increase the forces available? Nothing.

My point as well. I think in a couple years that a resurrection of the draft will become necessary. There simply aren't enough soldiers, sailors, airmen and Marines to handle all these deployments.

We are handling easily four times the commitments as we did 10 years ago, with a little more than half the bodies. It is simply not sustainable.
