MARCH 1990 : (IRAQIS ARRESTED TRYING TO SMUGGLE CAPACITORS THROUGH LONDON) Iraq is caught trying to smuggle military-standard and specification detonation capacitors from CSI Technologies of San Marcos, California. The capacitors' many applications include nuclear weapons as well as conventional warheads and military laser systems. An implosion system can use this type of detonation capacitor, which stores large amounts of electrical energy, with a high-speed electronic switch, called a "krytron." This assembly can supply within a fraction of a microsecond a burst of electrical energy to the detonator or blasting cap which sets off the conventional high explosives. Following an 18-month undercover investigation by the U.S. Customs Service in collaboration with the British government, five persons were arrested in London and the capacitors they were carrying—they had been given dummies instead of real ones—were confiscated. Customs officials identified the end-users for the capacitors as the Al Qaqaa State Establishment, the top-secret facility involved in developing missiles and explosives for Iraq's Ministry of Industry and Military Industrialization. The jihad assaults against the U.S. Marines in Beirut, U.S. Airmen in Saudi Arabia, and U.S. Navy in Yemen were in opposition to U.S. military occupation in Islamic nations.
Horsecrap, the US had gone into Lebanon to rescue Arafat's sorry but from Israel. As thanks, our embassy and our barracks were bombed, and the stinking Syrians shot down some of our aircraft and captured some pilots. The Beirut bombings were done at the behest of Syria, and the issue was over Syria OCCUPYING the country of Lebanon and using it as a base from which to launch attacks on Israel. Syrian and Iranian backed terrorists in Lebanon massacred the Lebanese army, the Christians, detroyed their churches, killed their priests, and the place has been a mess ever since, even now the only complaint from the Arab world is "how dare the Christian Lebanese fight back and how dare Sharon let them do it."
Terrorists are not representatives of anyone and as such have been given no legitimate authority, not from government nor from the people under such governments. It simply isn't up to them to determine what is and what is not 'occupation' and they have no right to protest against anything but their own government. It is their government's responsibility to act, not theirs. Terrorists neither have the official sanction of government in so-called 'occupied' countries nor the elected authority of the people in 'occupied' countries whom they falsely claim to represent. That's why they are illegitimate- they have been given no power, no authority by the people.
The attack on the US embassy in Beirut, by the way, was planned by Imad Mugniyah. He was one of Arafat's followers in the Fatah organization before coming onto Hezbollah, and is unofficially backed by Iran and Syria. But he has no official backing, nor any elected backing, which means that he's illegitimate and is no Islamic 'patriot.' He was a participant in the Cold War on the side of the communists, although he himself is more of a nationalist; it was an enemy of my enemy sort of thing. Imad Mugniyah is NOT an Islamic religious terrorist. Neither is Arafat. They are in it for other reasons, and the Koran is not one of them.
The US is not OCCUPYING any Islamic nation against that nation's wishes, nor was it doing so then. The fact is, Islamic terrorists are OUTLAWS. Their actions are no different than if a US citizen decided to bomb the Canadian embassy in DC, or the Australian embassy because an Aussie aircraft carrier was visiting Norfolk. Arab terrorist actions are no different than if a German citizen decided to bomb NATO headquarters or NATO bases. No different than if a US citizen bombed the Saudi embassy in DC for their operation of Madrassas in the US. Heck, US citizens have never even bombed an Iraqi embassy in the US. Why? Because we're not terrorists.
There are many ancient Arab sayings - the thrust of many being: If you don't want trouble with Arabs, leave them alone.
Here's an old American one the Arabs would do well to learn: Don't tread on me." Add to that, "...or America will kick your ass."
Not since the Goebbels and Hitler stage-production of the invasion of Poland, has the world witnessed such a snow job by the cast of George "mini-me" Bush and company trying to justify a second blitz of Iraq.

They have failed to tie Saddam with Al-Qaeda,
I guess in Bo Gritz's world, we would never have fought Italy and Germany because we couldn't prove they were directly responsible for Pearl Harbor, nevermind the axis and nevermind those incidents with German subs that preceded our part in WW2. We never said we had to tie Iraq in with al Qaeda, for the obvious reason that al Qaeda was not alone in using terrorism against the US, not even alone on 9/11. We're looking for everyone responsible for 9/11 and that includes states and persons 'unknown.'
But nonetheless, we did find that al Qaeda was training in Iraq, we did find that Iraqi officials traveled to meetings in Afghanistan with the Taliban, we did find that an Iraqi intelligence officer met with Atta the 911 hijacker, we do know that Iraq was trying to attack Radio Free Europe, we have found that Yousef (entered the US on an Iraqi passport) of WTC-1 fame, we do know that Iraq tried to assassinate a former US president, and we do know Iraq was backing Abu Nidal which has indeed carried out operations in the United States against US citizens.
JANUARY 2000 : (IRAQI AHMAD HIKMAT SHAKIR, MALAYSIA) U.S. officials said Shakir was present at a January 2000 al Qaeda "summit" in Malaysia that was attended by two of the 9/11 hijackers. OCTOBER 2001 early : (SALMAN PAK, IRAQ) : Two Iraqi National Congress activists in London travelled to eastern Turkey. They had been told that a Mukhabarat colonel had crossed the border through Kurdistan and was ready to defect. The officer - codenamed Abu Zeinab - had extraordinary information about terrorist training in Iraq. In a safe house in Ankara, the two London-based activists took down Zeinab's story. He had worked at a site which was already well known - Salman Pak, a large camp on a peninsular formed by a loop of the Tigris river south of Baghdad.
However, what Zeinab had to say about the southern part of the camp was new. There, he said, separated from the rest of the facilities by a razor-wire fence, was a barracks used to house Islamic radicals, many of them Saudis from bin Laden's Wahhabi sect, but also Egyptians, Yemenis, and other non-Iraqi Arabs.
Unlike the other parts of Salman Pak, Zeinab said the foreigners' camp was controlled directly by Saddam Hussein. In a telephone interview with The Observer, Zeinab described the culture clash which took place when secular Baathists tried to train fundamentalists: 'It was a nightmare! A very strange experience. These guys would stop and insist on praying to Allah five times a day when we had training to do. The instructors wouldn't get home till late at night, just because of all this praying.'
Asked whether he believed the foreigners' camp had trained members of al-Qaeda, Zeinab said: 'All I can say is that we had no structure to take on these people inside the regime. The camp was for organisations based abroad.' One of the highlights of the six-month curriculum was training to hijack aircraft using only knives or bare hands. According to Zeinab, women were also trained in these techniques. Like the 11 September hijackers, the students worked in groups of four or five.
In Ankara, Zeinab was debriefed by the FBI and CIA for four days. Meanwhile he told the INC that if they wished to corroborate his story, they should speak to a man who had political asylum in Texas - Captain Sabah Khodad, who had worked at Salman Pak in 1994-5. He too has now told his story to US investigators. In an interiew with The Observer, he echoed Zeinab's claims.
Zeinab and Khodad said the Salman Pak students practised their techniques in a Boeing 707 fuselage parked in the foreigners' part of the camp. Yesterday their story received important corroboration from Charles Duelfer, former vice chairman of Unscom, the UN weapons inspection team.
Duelfer said he visited Salman Pak several times, landing by helicopter. He saw the 707, in exactly the place described by the defectors. The Iraqis, he said, told Unscom it was used by police for counter-terrorist training. 'Of course we automatically took out the word "counter",' he said. OCTOBER 2001 : (IRAQI AHMAD HIKMAT SHAKIR, JORDAN) The Iraqi, Ahmad Hikmat Shakir, 37, was picked up October 2001 in Amman, and his passport showed he had recently traveled to Pakistan, Yemen and Malaysia, all key terror trouble spots. NOVEMBER 2001 : (JORDAN, IRAQI SHAKIR, AMNESTY INTERNATIONAL) Amnesty International wrote to the Minister of Interior in November seeking assurances that Ahmad Hikmat Shakir was being humanely treated and not subjected to any kind of ill-treatment or torture as well as seeking information about his whereabouts, the reasons for his arrest, and whether any charges had been brought against him. By the end of January 2002 no reply had been received.
SEPTEMBER 26, 2002 Thursday : (IRAQ, AL-QAEDA) WASHINGTON, (Reuters) - Senior al Qaeda leaders have been in Baghdad "in recent periods," U.S. Defense Secretary Donald Rumsfeld said on Thursday. "We certainly have evidence of senior al Qaeda who have been in Baghdad in recent periods. Whether they're currently there or not one never knows, because they're moving targets," he said, of the movement blamed by Washington for the Sept. 11 attacks on America that killed around 3,000 people. "If you're asking if it (intelligence) is current -- in the last period of days or weeks -- the answer is yes," the secretary said.
