It was my interest in politics and current events that caused me to go in that direction - a decision I made when I was 16.
By 26 I was thoroughly disgusted and realized I could do more to make changes in the system as an advocate (i.e. lobbyist) than I could as a journalist.
I will toot my own horn - I was good. The way I could tell that was from the number of phone calls the General manager got calling for me to be taken off the air for my biased viewpoints. And everytime he got a call, I got hauled into his office with all the copy I had written on whatever the hot topic du jour happened to be.
In the end - the only bias that could be found in any of my stories was in the mind of the complainer - usually because I was giving both sides of the story and one of the sides didn't like hearing it.
And that was my point! I just knew there was some down and dirty foxhole training in there somewheres!
Thanks for all you do, especially all your time and attention to this FReepathon, Gabz.
