"Thank you for the link... I found it an interesting read in light of the date" More than interesting. It is important regardless of the date. The writer points out that valuations should trade historically at 13 times earnings. This number seems slightly low to me but it is not far off the mark. It might be wise to avoid the equity markets a bit longer.
This administration had better do something and do it quick. For starters it either needs to attack Iraq or concede to whatever inspections the UN agrees to (though the latter makes me sick). Either will have a good effect on the markets and possibly give Bush a second term at some point. Remember; most voters in the US are not as informed as we who read FreeRepublic (look at the popular vote for Gore if you want proof). They are not going to care that it's a result of the Clinton administration and the Rats will use it as an election platform. If this happens and someone like Gore winds up in office, this country is sunk. Sans market, sans economy, sans end.

all great points but if I was Rushbo,I'd read it on air.
Rushbo is network show prep and this article gives
a reason, a name, a pattern as to what happened in
terms understandable....Barter etc....

Leaping Lizards Jimer you Clymer, I don't think that is exactly what is being said. I do think that Warren Buffet's recent observations in England that Executives here in the 90's took a pass on ethics starting with the top executive, is true. Most of what we trade on trades tacitly on the knowledge that we are good for our word and our deeds; when that goes, then the whole system can be flushed down the tubes . Not something a mathematical engineer can model, but real nonetheless. And the Chief Executive Officer led by example. The confluence of events translates into: the buck stopped and began with him. Live it or live with it. V's wife.

I completely beg your pardon if I read you wrong; you seemed to be engaged in a locution designed to ridicule the points made in the article. If the intent was the opposite, I misunderstood. V's wife.
