The Irish, who fought so long and so hard for their freedom, would be fools to hand it over to the tyrannical Eurocrats. Little by litte, they would find themselves subjects of a huge entity in which they have no effective say. They would be a colony of Europe. C'mon, Irish - have enough faith and pride in yourselves to not pass the latchkeys of your liberty to those who do not understand or value it. At least when they were part of Britain, they had MPs in Parliament. With the Nice treaty, they forfeit their right to have a Commissioner, and give up 3 European Parliament MPs.
They are basically being asked to vote in favour of a treaty that reduces their ability to run their own affairs. I wonder what Michael Collins would have said.

I don't get it either. Why would the Irish trade freedom, which they've really only had for 80 years, for another form of oppression. Havy they forgotten in so short a time?
