What are the constitutional issues involved? This concerns whether a name can be substituted under the ballot rules of a state.

But it's not a federal office as the President is. A senator represents the state he is elected from. The president represents ALL states. The more I think about it the more I start to think it's up to the corrupt state of NJ to sort their own trash; unfortunately, the trash is picked up from the mafia.

Of course prior to the 17th Amendment I think it was entirely a State matter how senators were chosen. I actually think we should want the senator to be the running mate of the governor--so that the governor bears some responsibility for how the Senate lets the Federal government (including the judiciary) treat the state government.
