Israeli General< "His ambitions since the war (the first Gulf War) are curtailed. His limited aims are to protect Iraq and deter others from harming it and — of course — survive ... a brutal and crafty despot, Saddam has proved to be careful and sane in his moves."

As a Jew who loves America first and Israel second [The EU and UN are on par w/ what floats around in my toilet] the general is mistaken when he cavalierly dismisses the Iraqi threat:

1)The risk of Iraq acquiring a nuclear weapon will only increase over time... no rational party doubts he will use such weapons or at least blackmail the free world. Striking Iraq before this eventuality will only save lives in the long run, here, and in Israel.

2)The myth of "hostilities" b/n secular Iraq and fundamental terror groups is proven. The Arabs have no problems putting aside their petty differences toward their singular ultimate goal of removing Israel and America from the planet.

Saddam has already established himself as a threat to Jews and others in Israel. He gives money to the families of Palestinian suicide bombers. He launched Scud missles at Israel during the Gulf War, killing and maiming many people. He harbors terrorists who have attacked Jews in Israel and in other countries.
