Let me guess what happens in the worst-case scenario: South Carolina has a similar special election law to New Jersey's, allowing Gov. Jim Hodges to appoint a Democrat replacement and cancel November's election?

No, that would not happen because us South Carolinians would rise up against little Elmer Fudd Hodges and beat the snot out of him. Sanford (R) will be governor in January.

I thought that would violate the 6 year term provisions. BUT....the GOP could take a page out of the Toricelli book and ask for a new ballot with a new candidate, right?
