Some women accept the inevitable losses and declines of middle age gracefully. Some even take to it like a duck to water.

Other women look in the mirror at the lined face, the stringy, thinning hair, the ruined figure, the horribly puckered and sagging breasts and lash out.

Poor, poor Babs.

From the St. Louis Post-Dispatch

Barbra Streisand, the diva who rarely leaves her own house, took center stage at Hollywood's Kodak Theater on Sunday evening to lobby for Dick Gephardt's House, according to a breathless correspondent. Streisand, along with producer David Foster, star fund-raiser Joyce Aboussie, Three Mo' Tenors and Barry Manilow, headed a fund-raising show that netted a record-breaking $6 million for Gephardt's determined effort to secure a Democratic majority in the U.S. House of Representatives. One highlight? Streisand recast lyrics to "The Way We Were (When the Democrats Controlled the House)." Hometowners on hand for the gala included: Donald Suggs; Barb and Bob Kelley; Leo, Kathy and Tina Miceli; Steven Stogel; Diane and Dennis Ryll; Bob and Lori Holden; Jerome Glick; and Mayor Slay and his wife, Kim.

Sounded like you were talking about Hillary.

BTW, I heard on the news that Babs wants a political job, an appointment (apparently she does not want the dirty work of running for office) under a Democratic administration. Let's hope she waits a long, long, long, long (as long as her nose) time.

Boy! I'm real catty today.

Concert footage of Barbra Streisand's latest comeback performance was kept clear of TV networks because it was too political. The diva's rare nine-song performance at Sunday's National Democratic Gala in Hollywood didn't feature on yesterday's showbiz TV news shows, with critics claiming she refused to be filmed. But that footage appeared during late night showbiz segments with warnings that it was very political and anti-George W. Bush. Wearing a striking green gown, Streisand made a mockery of the way Bush and his Republican Party is running America. She even doctored her signature song "The Way We Were" to poke fun at the Republicans, singing, "lovely Democratic memories of the way we were." She later sang, "The American Dream was alive and well. The Dow was up, the deficit was down. As long as Democrats were the majority I could sleep nights, not weep nights." Streisand also took time out between songs to further berate Bush and the Republicans, adding, "I find Bush and (Vice President) Dick Cheney frightening. I find bringing the country to the brink of a war five weeks before an election questionable and very, very frightening." Barry Manilow, who also performed at the event, is now campaigning to persuade Streisand to run for office. He says, "I think we should send Barbra to Washington. At least she would properly pronounce 'nuclear'." exactly which period of time is she talking about? 93-94? 76-80?

Is it any wonder that her son turned out to be a homosexual?

"...Sounded like you were talking about Hillary..."

Well, Babs at one time was striking if never beautiful.

Hitlery, OTOH, has never been anything but 'industrial grade'. She's got that 'Comrade Forewoman of Slovodarsk Heavy Tractor Factory Shift Number 3' look about her...

She can't fairly miss what she never had.

This is great.

Babs raised all that money for Gephardt, and implored him to stand against Bush on Iraq.

So Gephardt takes the loot, slams the door in her face and does exactly the opposite.

Gephardt couldn't wait to get on TV today and announce that they have agreed to a resolution with the President.

I suggest the folowing headline:

"Funny Girl Screwed By Little Dick"

This wouldn't be the first footage of Barbra(sic) Streisand to be hidden in the vaults.

I have personally seen a blooper reel from Indiana Jones & The Temple of Doom where Barbra(sic) sneaks into shot while Indy is chained up. She proceeds to start whipping him while berating him for a variety of film roles (I believe that was what she was spouting). She's holding the whip loose so that she won't really injure him and she says that she feels "like such a fag" for whipping him with a limp wrist. Don't expect to ever see this on the Indiana Jones special edition DVDs.

There is also reputed to be a porn loop from the 1960s of her although it could be just another big nosed gal with straight hair.

She might be able to pronounce "nuclear" but I bet she can't spell it.

Well, you're right about the "not beautiful" part. But not so much striking as struck... like with an ugly stick.

Exactly. I was screaming this at my radio when Sean Hannity played this drivel yesterday.

Over-rated, over-paid, over-pampered, over-indulged celebs with over-inflated egos are what is really frightening.
