Really? I'll have to listen for that. Journalists have a style manual, and there is flexibility in such matters, but they have to be consistent. If they aren't consistent, someone might get the idea they are reporting in a biased manner. It's right there at that point of perception that the reporter becomes the news. Network talking heads know better, and PBS wouldn't even try it because they know the demographics of their audience includes college professors who get a kick out of finding errors on students' term papers.
