Congresswoman Defends 'Baghdad' Jim McDermott

Rep. Jan Schakowsky, D-Ill., has broken her party's silence on controversial comments by Rep. Jim McDermott, D-Wash., who charged Sunday during a Baghdad interview that President Bush would "mislead" the American people to go to war with Iraq.

But instead of condemning McDermott for giving aid and comfort to the enemy in time of war, Schakowsky actually defended the repugnant remarks when questioned late Tuesday on the Fox News Channel.

"I really don't think it's wrong to question the president," the Illinois Democrat told FNC's "Hannity & Colmes," after being asked point blank if McDermott was wrong to question Bush's integrity from a foreign capital.

"The place that they did it was their choice, I wouldn't have made it," she quickly added.

H & C host Sean Hannity repeatedly asked Schakowsky if she was embarrassed "as a Democrat" to have to defend McDermott's comments, but she kept trying to change the subject.

"What we need to do is have a full debate," the anti-war Democrat offered. Saying she preferred not to focus on her Washington state colleague's explosive outburst, Schakowsky noted that McDermott had "said a lot of things about going into Iraq at this time."

Meanwhile, Senate Republicans have begun to grumble that Democratic leaders don't seem particularly offended over McDermott's remarks.

"I could not believe that he would make that comment," Sen. Sam Brownback, R-Kan., told FNC's Greta Van Susteren. "I'd like to see some of the Democrat leadership come out and move themselves away from that statement."

Schakowsky is another troll member of the Progressive Caucus, a group of card carrying socialists that are actively engaged in subverting the capiatlist system of government in the USA and transforming it into a socialist nation.

"Progressive" is a code word for socialist, note that Sanders of VT is an officer.

Why these people are allowed to get on TV and not disclose that they are memners of a socialist organization is beyond me.
