My dad's like that. He was a Democrat, but he claims he is independant now, and supports mostly Republicans. Like you, he'll occasionally support a local Democrat, if they are a good and honest person who is somewhat conservative. He is an old Southern Democrat (a DINO)actually.

He wholeheartedly supports our Republican Congressional team(UT), and has voted Republicans for president since Reagan, and including Reagan. The last time he voted for a Democrat for Pres. was for J. Carter. He was disgruntled with Carter, though.

Your dad sounds like a treasure! I was too young to be too disillusioned with Carter. Or too busy raising kids. I wasn't into politics much then. Now, it's different. As a Christian, I view politics differently than I did back then. I see so much more corruption and greed than ever. It's not going to get a whole lot better. We've been given a reprieve with Bush and it's a welcome one. Who knows what will happen after he steps down. It's not a great thought. That's why we need to be praying for the OFFICE of the President, no matter who our president is. (I don't mean the literal office but the position.) I can't imagine how difficult it must be for anyone to occupy that position. Love, M
