Being Republican-friendly is one thing which draws in a lot of conservatives. Probably more than any other single factor.
You will note that there is a lot of complaining about individual Republicans not being conservative ENOUGH. That is well tolerated. Even stumping for marginal conservative parties like the Libertarians or Reform is moderately tolerated. What won't be tolerated is trying to subvert the Republicans with the Democrats.
More leeway is granted in the chat area than in the politics/activism. It's a compromise with which some obviously disagree. But demographically it helps keep FR at its premier status.
