September 30, 2002 -- WASHINGTON - Pentagon generals are assembling a Space Age Iraq war plan that calls for a lightning assault on the pillars of Saddam Hussein's power from multiple directions - while leaving the bulk of his civilian and military infrastructure intact.

One would hope they'd bomb all of Saddam's palaces-arsenals on the first night.

Well gee whiz rummie... this makes the fifteenth super secret, top of the shelf "war plan" we have had discussed in the press in as many days...

Exactly! So, which will it be, Saddam?

Sounds very good, odds of success are good, however I would not particularly want to be one of the ground troops. There may be an unseen part of the equation, one that could spell disaster. The major influence predicting success is the past behavior of Iraqi troops.

This will be the B2's war to show off. This will be just like 10 years ago when everybody talked about the F117. These guys (B2 pilots) will hit Baghdad so hard it will make Hussein's head spin.

I have a feeling the people who know told the people who don't know many different stories. And the people who don't know did as was expected, and printed them all.

During the cold war, there was one set of codewords used for space systems when talking to Congress and one set used when talking internally. Guess which set got into the papers?

The piece of this I like is the "oil fields" piece.

We have the northern no-fly zone and the southern no-fly zone. We have eliminated the chem/bio offensive capability.

The oil fields are the Iraqi's money-line. What more needs being done than taking those oil fields. Starve him out financially while supplying food for his people with the cash gained from an Opec-controlled escrow of Iraqi oil money.

No weapons money.

Rumsfeld said forcefully last week, "the people who know aren't talking, and the people who don't know are putting soldier's lives in danger playing an irresponsible press game."

What part of Rumsfeld's statements doesn't the NY Post understand?

This will be the B2's war to show off. This will be just like 10 years ago when everybody talked about the F117. These guys (B2 pilots) will hit Baghdad so hard it will make Hussein's head spin.

The great thing about the B-2 is that it has the same characteristics as the 117 with a much greater bombload. And each bomb will be gps guided. Don't be surprised if each palace gets hit by a BLU-82 Thermobaric or a bunker buster.
